POEM
by rider Lexi Karpeles

Long ago and far away
All I did was just to lay.
My head hung low, my heart stood still,
I felt as if I had no will.
And then one day I met this horse
My life did change unwilling of course.
I brushed his mane, I learned to ride,
No longer did I have to hide.
My horse and I, we ride as one,
Mocha is just loads of fun.
My head's held high and proud these days.
Long ago is just a haze.
Riding you see is responsible for
My life that has changed forever more.
Nora is so dear to me.
She showed me who I could be.

Lexi has ADD. Although she was frightened of riding a horse, she is a natural rider. In her latest horse show she insisted on entering the jumping class, even though she was the only entry. She did a great job, of course, even though she could not ride her favorite horse, Mocha.
